Board of Directors

Rod Sheridan

Chairman of the board

Rod is currently the Vice Chairman of Nordic Aviation Capital.  Prior to joining NAC Rod spent 28 years with Bombardier and its Toronto based predecessor, Boeing Canada/de Havilland.  During his time at Bombardier, Rod held a number of positions in sales and marketing new and used regional aircraft.  

In 1994 Rod launched the Asset Management Group.  From its inception, Rod and his team placed aircraft from all the leading regional manufacturers.  His most notable achievements included converting Bombardier products to serve special missions, converting CRJ 200s for corporate use and creating CRJ 200, Q400 and EMB 120 freighters.  Prior to this, Rod worked in general aviation at Aviation Unlimited, based at Buttonville Airport, as the sales manager for Piper Aircraft in Eastern Canada.

Rod has been interested in aviation all his life.  At the age of 17 he earned his Private Pilot licence, followed shortly thereafter with Commercial licence, Instrument, Multi-engine and Float endorsements.  He was active as a professional pilot until the age of 25 when he moved into the business side of the industry.

Rod is currently a Trustee of the International Society of Transport Aircraft Traders (ISTAT) Foundation, Chairman of the Foundation Fundraising Committee and Chairman of Canada’s Aviation Hall of Fame.  He resides in Toronto.


Frank Baistrocchi

Vice Chairman

Frank is a passionate aviation enthusiast who has served in the aerospace industry for over 40 years. His career began with de Havilland Aircraft on the production of the Buffalo and Dash 7 aircraft. He had a notable role in the development of the Dash 8 and the PW120 engine. Various roles of advancement followed in marketing, sales and customer support.

Subsequent to Bombardier’s acquisition of Boeing Canada/de Havilland, Frank helped shape the Bombardier Regional Aircraft Department and formed the first Customer Support In-Service Engineering team. A major accomplishment was getting the Canadair Regional Jet to worldclass reliability levels resulting in several successive Professional Pilot awards for ‘Best Support’.

His leadership and achievements in new and used aircraft sales led to assignments in Asia culminating as Vice President Sales, South East Asia and Australasia. He retired from Bombardier in 2016 and currently provides marketing and business development for aircraft aftermarket companies. Frank resides in Hudson, Quebec.


Robert Payne


Bob Payne has been involved with Canada’s airline and aviation industry over the course of a forty-year career that has spanned all sectors of the industry and all geographic locations in the country.  His industry focus was primarily in Finance and Management, including M&A activity but also with involvement in Board and Investor Relations along with Ecommerce, IT, Human Resources and new airline startups.

He began his aviation career with Austin Airways; spending 8 years based in Timmins, Ontario.  A truly unique experience which emphasized the importance of aviation to Canada’s north and followed this with 2 years in Toronto involved with the financing of original 50 Aircraft D8 100 order from Bombardier by Canada’s regional airlines.  This was followed 8 years in London with Air Ontario.  Mr. Payne was then involved with starting up Diamond Aircraft in London before being recruited by Air Canada to move to Vancouver to integrate Air BC into the Air Canada network.  Following the integration of the Air Canada regional airlines into Jazz, 

Mr. Payne then worked in both Vancouver and Montreal focusing on the evolution of IT and Ecommerce in the industry.  Then with the creation of Porter Airlines at BBTCA, Mr. Payne was asked to assist with the startup and management of one of Canada’s premier regional airlines.


Walter Heneghan


An aviation enthusiast since his teens, at age 12, Walter witnessed the Snowbirds overfly his hometown of St. John’s, Newfoundland and decided then and there that a career in the skies was the path for him. He learned to fly gliders and airplanes through the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and after a year in pre-Engineering studies at Memorial University, joined the RCAF. He attended college militaire Royale at St. Jean sur Richelieu, Quebec and the Royal Military College in Kingston, Ontario, graduating in 1982 with a degree in Engineering and Management. He then pursued a career in the Air Force, serving with 408 Squadron in Edmonton, Alberta and at the helicopter flight training school in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba. With 13 years of service under his belt, Walter took the next 18 months and travelled the world – westward bound through the south Pacific, Asia, China and Russia. He followed his travels with a brief stint flying in support of the United Nations effort in Cambodia, before settling in Alberta to continue his commercial career. He worked with STARS Air Rescue and Canadian Helicopters in progressive roles as a pilot and trainer in their air ambulance operations. Walter eventually became involved in the evolving world of aviation safety management systems filling various roles in that field including safety manager, VP Safety for Canadian and Summit Helicopters, and SMS development specialist for CHC Global in Kazakhstan before moving to Ontario to assume a leadership role as the Director of Helicopter Services with Hydro One Networks. Walter has a stepson and two daughters, all of whom reside in Alberta. He is a keen photographer, loves languages and travel, enjoys peaceful rides on his motorcycle and is anxious to bring a helicopter industry perspective to the board work at the Canadian Aviation Hall of Fame.


Michael Bannock


Michael Bannock is President and Founder of Worldwide Aircraft Ferrying Ltd. and Jet-Share Canada Inc.  He obtained his Private Pilot licence in 1975 and earned his Float endorsement on a de Havilland Beaver that same year under the tutelage of his father, Hall of Fame member, Russ Bannock.  Commercial Pilot licence, Multi-engine endorsement and Instrument rating followed two years later.

In 1977 Michael flew for Emirates Air Service out of Abu Dhabi.  In 1979 he founded Worldwide Aircraft Ferrying Ltd.  The company annually ferries over 100 aircraft around the world.  He was Chief Pilot for Eaton’s of Canada from 1980 to 1998, and in 2002 he founded Jet-Share Canada Ltd. which operates Cessna Citation Aircraft and conducts maintenance on Toronto-based aircraft.  In 1988 he was on contract to de Havilland Aircraft Canada Flight Operations Department performing production test flying and delivery flights on DHC 5, DHC 6, DHC 7 and DHC 8 aircraft.  He has amassed 15,500 hours of total flight time, which includes over 5,500 hours of float time.  Michael lives in Toronto.


Gordon Berturelli


Gordon served as a member of the 1st Battalion Black Watch in his native Scotland. He began his aviation career in 1975 at Prestwick Airport Scotland with Esso Petroleum.

In 1994 the family emigrated to Calgary, Alberta, where he joined the aviation arm of Imperial Oil to run the Fixed Base Operation in Calgary.

Gordon has served as President of the Alberta Aviation Council and also spent 14 years involved with the Canadian Business Aviation Association.  He is currently working in Sales and Marketing for FlightSafety International. Gordon lives in Cowley, Alberta.


Denis Chagnon


Denis Chagnon is President of York & Cumberland Communications Inc., specializing in aviation and humanitarian issues.  He was head of communications and spokesperson for the United Nations International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) from 1996 to 2011.  His extensive communications experience includes similar activities with Air Canada from 1979 to 1992, as well as financial institutions and Canadian government agencies.  

He received his Bachelor of Journalism from Carleton University (Ottawa), and worked in print and broadcast journalism in both French and English.  He is a professional speaker, master of ceremonies and has contributed to a number of aviation-related magazines and publications, notably the Memoirs of Dr. Assad Kotaite, President Emeritus of the Council of ICAO, and the ICAO STATES TODAY commemorative albums.

Denis is a founding president of a Toastmasters Club in Montreal, and he supports a number of local and global community humanitarian organizations, including Keroul, a Montreal-based, non-profit organization committed to the promotion and development of accessible tourism and culture, with all modes of transportation.

Denis lives in Longueuil, Quebec.


Craig Richmond


Craig Richmond assumed the role of President & CEO of the Vancouver Airport Authority in July 2013, following a career in airport management, including more than a decade in operational roles at Vancouver International Airport (YVR).  In 2006, Craig embarked upon a global airport leadership adventure with YVR subsidiary Vantage Airport Group, which took him around the world as CEO of six airports in three different countries.

Craig originally joined Vancouver Airport Authority in 1995 and spent more than 11 years in various operational roles including Manager, Airside Operations and Vice President, Operations.  During his tenure as VP, he oversaw the safe and efficient movement of millions of passengers, including those diverted to YVR in the aftermath of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.  He championed airfield safety, including the introduction of the first rdar debris detection system to a commercial airport, led strategic planning and community consultation for major changes to runway operations and spearheaded improvements to YVR’s world-renowned customer service.  He also served as the organization’s lead spokesperson during crisis and issues response.

Craig's love of aviation began at an early age; he earned his pilot’s licence before learning to drive a car.  Between 1980 and 1990, he served in the Canadian Armed Forces, piloting fighter jets with 439 and 441 Tactical Fighter Squadrons, on both the CF-104 and CF-18 aircraft.

He was educated at the University of Manitoba, earning a BA and MBA in Business Administration.  He serves on the Canadian Airports Council’s Board of Directors.

He resides in Richmond, BC.


John McKenna

President and CEO of ATAC

Mr. McKenna has over 30 years work experience in both the public and private sectors. In the 1980s he worked successively as an Economic Advisor to Premier Robert Bourassa, as Political Advisor to the President of the Quebec Treasury Board and finally as Chief of Staff to the Minister of Transport and Minister of Public Security. In 1992, he was nominated Official Representative and Senior Political Advisor for the Quebec Government in Washington, D.C.

In the private sector he acted as Manager of Public and Governmental Affairs and Special Assistant to Executive Vice President for the Steinberg food chain. He later worked as a partner in a Boston based consulting firm, the Malloy Group, before returning to Quebec to invest in and manage three different manufacturing companies.

He taught International Business at the Williams School of Business at Bishop’s University from 2001 to 2003 before becoming President and General Manager of the Quebec Air Transport Association in September 2003, a position he held until taking up the position of President and CEO of the Air Transport Association of Canada in January 2009.

Mr. McKenna was an undergraduate at McGill University. He holds Master’s degrees in Soviet and East European Economic Studies from Carleton University, in Business Administration (MBA) from Sherbrooke University and in Public Administration (MPA) from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University.


Anthony Norejko

President and CEO of CBAA

Anthony Norejko, named the president and CEO of the Canadian Business Aviation Association in August 2018, is known as much for his entrepreneurial successes as he is for his business aviation expertise.

As well as his leadership in business aviation as Director Aviation and Chief Pilot for Walmart Canada, Anthony also demonstrated his financial and strategic planning acumen as founder of MoneyUpstream Coaching and more recently, as Vice President Strategy and Operations, North at FirstService Residential.

Anthony represents the best of the next generation of business aviation professionals, plugged into new technologies and approaches, but firmly grounded in and sensitive to the positive actions of the past.


Lynne McMullen


Lynne McMullen is Director Strategic Partnerships for the School of Aviation at Seneca College. Within this portfolio and previously as School Chair, Lynne is directly involved with academic program development and assessment, research, student recruitment, industry relations and creating graduate employment opportunities. In addition she maintains an ATPL and Pilot Examiner authority. She was instrumental in developing and establishing unique and industry leading partnerships with Jazz Aviation LP, the Department of National Defence, Sunwing Airlines and the GTAA.


Robert Madden


Robert has been active in the aviation industry for 45 years, and has recently returned to his roots, flying water bombers each summer in Saskatchewan.

Robert started his flying career flying in the bush in northern Saskatchewan. Later he joined the Saskatchewan Government Air Transportation Service and through the years held various positions with increasing responsibilities.

In 1996 Robert accepted the position of Director of Flight Operations for the Saskatchewan Executive and Air Ambulance operations. After eight years in that position, he accepted the position of Director of Flight operations for the Alberta Government, where he remained until the flight department was closed in 2015.

Robert has been active within the business aviation community, he served six years on the Canadian Business Aviation Association, (CBAA) Board of Directors, with two of those years as chair. He has also served on many industry, committees and panels through the years.

Robert currently lives in Edmonton


David E. Wright, P. Eng.

Chair of the Operations Committee - ex-0fficio 

Dave was born and raised in Edmonton, and has worked in Calgary and Toronto.  He earned a B.Sc in Electrical Engineering, and a B. Commerce from the University of Alberta in 1972 and 1973 respectively.  His working career was in the energy industry where he worked the business side of his education even though he was hired as an engineer.

Dave earned his Private Pilot Licence at age 17 with the instruction of Hall of Fame member Vera Dowling.  He has owned three aircraft over the years since, a Piper J3 Cub, a Cessna 172, and a Cessna 206, and continued private flying for enjoyment until 2013.  He has been a member of COPA since 1966.

His volunteer work included sixteen years on the Board of Directors of the Edmonton Petroleum Club, President in 2000-2001, six years on the Advisory Board of the Reynolds Alberta Museum, Chairman in 2009-2010, four years on the Board of Directors of the Edmonton Petroleum Golf and Country Club, President 1998-2000.

Dave is a life member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and is a member of the Edmonton Petroleum Club.

He resides in Edmonton.
